The Directorate of Marketing and Inspection (DMI) on August 20, 2025, notified regarding the Draft Tradable Parameters for 09 Commodities.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It outlines standardized quality parameters for 09 agricultural commodities intended for trading on the e-NAM (National Agriculture Market) platform.
• The Tradable parameters for the 09 commodities are as follows:
o Green Tea & Tea: Derived from Camellia sinensis, both should be uniform in size and color, free from adulterants, and assessed for ash, water-extract, crude fiber, and organoleptic qualities, with green tea showing blackish-green color and black tea showing a brown hue.
o Ashwagandha Dry Roots: Roots of Withania somnifera should be well-formed, brittle, cream to brown in color, and checked for moisture (<10%), with optional testing of withanolide and polysaccharide content.
o Mustard Oil: Extracted from Brassica seeds, it should have natural flavor, be free from adulterants and rancidity, with moisture/impurities under 0.25%, essential oil content (allyl isothiocyanate) tested, and optional iodine/saponification values.
o Lavender Oil & Mentha Oil: Obtained by steam distillation, both should be clear, aromatic, and free from sediments, tested for refractive index, density, ester/menthol content, optical rotation, and acid value.
o Virgin Olive Oil: Extracted mechanically from Olea europaea, it should be pure, with low free acidity (0.8–3.3%), no adulteration, and tested for iodine value, UV absorbance, saponification, and impurities.
o Lavender Dried Flowers: Harvested buds/stems should be free of foreign material, assessed for moisture (<12%), aroma intensity, color, and optionally essential oil content (>1%).
o Broken Rice: Defined as rice kernels less than three-fourths size, it should be white to creamy-white, free from filth, odor, and adulterants, tested for moisture (12–14%), foreign matter (<1%), damaged/chalky grains, and optional amylose/ASV values.
